My story
My photography has always been a companion to the activities I love doing most. Whitewater, snowsports and general love of travel have brought me to special places which I like to share with my friends.
Growing up in East Tennessee puts one in the heart of an ancient  playground full of mystery and beauty. The Appalachian Mountains that initially spurred my interest for exploring, discovering and learning about the world around me.

WHITEWATER
It taught me humility as it thrashed me and forced me to learn its ways.  I worked one summer on the Pigeon River in Tennessee and was hooked. i got myself a boat and spent years travelling the southeast in seach of awsome whitewater. From the Chattooga down in Georgia all the way up to the Youghiogheny in Pennsylvania, me and my friends tackled as many classic runs as we could. high water season at the Gauley River in West Virginia brought together boaters from all over the country and plugged me into the boating scene.

Colorado

Eventually I followed the "Go west, young man" calling and made my way to Colorado to work on the Arkansas River.  This became my Summer home for the next six years while I fine tuned my guiding abilities and pushed my limits on the fast, cold and continuous Rocky Mountain water
The Grand Canyon

The next Spring I got the invite that every boater dreams of; The Grand Canyon of the Colorado in Arizona.  It is more than a simple rafting trip. It is an adventure that pits one against the forces of nature for weeks.  It challenges you to live in harmony with nature and takes you on a trip through history as it slowly unfolds its layers like pages of a book.

Snowsports
Of course, it was only natural that I stuck around for a couple Winters to see what that water was like when it was in powder form. My skills grew by leaps and bounds with the conveinience of living in Summit County in Colorado.

International
My thirst for exploring landscapes, viewing wildlife and meeting people from different cultures eventually led overseas to New Zealand and Australia both of which I visited on working holiday visas.  I caught the travel bug and found myself in Indonesia, Thailand, France, Switzerland.  Whitewater guiding jobs would take me to Alaska and Costa Rica
